Dr. Rick Dina, D.C. has been practicing and advocating a vegan raw and living foods diet and lifestyle for the past 18 years. He was a staff doctor at True North Health Center for 4 years, where he oversaw the fasting of hundreds of patients and was involved with the most efficacious hypertension study ever described in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. He is the director of Vitality Health Center of Marin in San Rafael, CA where he practices chiropractic and nutrition consulting.

Rick became interested in nutrition at 18 years old in 1986 when he found himself 30 lbs. overweight, tired and run down during his first year of college. In 1987 he read “Fit for Life,” and became interested in natural hygiene. He started to read books and publications, attend natural hygiene conferences, and began to embrace this incredible way of life. In 1989 he was introduced to “Survival into the 21st Century” by Viktorus Kulvinskas, which opened up an entirely new world of raw food nutrition.

In 1991, he worked at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, growing sprouts and wheatgrass, and making several gallons of daily green juice. He went on to work for the Juiceman company, traveling around the country educating people about the power of raw fruits and vegetables. Rick then went on the read and learn as much as he could about health, especially from a raw food and vegan perspective. He has read the works of many authors, including Herbert Shelton, T.C. Fry, Viktorus Kulvinskas, Gabriel Cousens, Joel Fuhrman, Ann Wigmore, Brian Clement, Edward Howell, Paavo Airola, Udo Erasmus, Norman Walker, John McDougall, Neal Barnard, Michael Klaper, John Robbins, Dean Ornish, Nathan Pritikin, Howard Lyman, Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Jeff Bland, and many others.

After earning his doctor of chiropractic degree from Life University in Atlanta, GA in 1997, Dr. Dina joined the staff of True North Health Center, a medically supervised water fasting facility in Northern California. During his 4 years as a staff doctor there, he had the opportunity to be involved in the care of several hundred fasting patients, and gained a wealth of clinical experience helping people recover from high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, etc. He was involved with research conducted at True North, published in peer reviewed scientific journals, showing fasting to have the greatest effect in reducing high blood pressure of anything ever described in the scientific literature. (True North continues to do their research, and will be releasing a paper on fasting and recovery from diabetes soon.) While at True North, Dr. Dina also conducted weekly health presentations on various aspects of optimal nutrition, longevity and disease recovery.

In the winter quarter of 2002, Dr. Dina taught a required course called “The Determinants of Health” to students working toward their doctorate degrees in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA, the nations flagship 4-year Naturopathic Medical School. This course outlined the basic principles of health from a natural hygiene and vegan nutrition point of view.

Dr. Dina is now in private practice at Vitality Health Center of Marin in San Rafael, CA where he practices chiropractic care and nutrition and lifestyle counseling. He teaches community education classes on optimal nutrition, and is a popular speaker at vegetarian and raw food groups and events around the San Francisco Bay Area and elsewhere, such as the International Raw and Living Foods festival in Portland, OR. With backgrounds in various aspects of raw food and vegan nutrition, he is much more interested in health results than he is in subscribing to any particular dogma.

Over 75 years collective experience with raw foods!
