Centrifugal Juicers (Omega 1000, 9000 / Acme 6001)

  • What is the difference between the omega 1000 and the 8000 model?
  • Whats the difference between the Omega 1000/9000 juicer and the Omega 4000?
  • Can you do citrus fruits without this attachment (on the Omega 1000/9000 and Acme Juicers)?
  • Are the non-self extracting juice machines (omega 1000, 9000, Acme 6001) able to process citrus fruits without the attachment?
  • What is the difference between the Omega 1000/9000 and the ACME 5001/6001/7001??
  • The Olympic juicer has been recommended to us. But I haven't seen an Olympic listed anywhere. Do you have this brand?

What is the difference between the omega 1000 and the 8000 model?
The difference between the Omega 1000 and Omega 8000 is that the 1000 uses a centrifugal process to extract juice, and is a best for all-purpose juicing. The 8000 uses twin gears, and is best for vegetables and leafy greens.

Whats the difference between the Omega 1000/9000 juicer and the Omega 4000?
The omega 1000/9000 are centrifugal juicers, which work much like a washing machine on the spin cycle, constantly spinning around the pulp to extract the juice. This causes it to get a bit better yield than the 4000. Although sometimes like washing machines get "off balance".. this can happen with the Omega 1000/9000 as well in some circumstances- (if it gets too full for example).. The juice may then "walk" across the table. The 4000 on the other hand "ejects" the pulp into a pulp catch bin, which makes it easier and faster to use, in our opinion. The 4000 and 9000 have a 15 yr warranty, and the 1000 has a 10 year warranty. We prefer the 4000 since its easier to clean, and faster to use. The 4000 will juice citrus, as will the 9000 and 1000 WITHOUT an attachment. Oranges, Grapefruits, and tangerines must be peeled, then can be put into the juicer.. (there are toxic chemicals in the skin of those citrus fruits).

Can you do citrus fruits without this attachment (on the Omega 1000/9000 and Acme Juicers)?
The citrus attachment makes the juicer like a motorized citrus juicer, (like mom used). The Omega 1000/9000 and Acme 5001/6001/7001 will juice citrus without the attachment, just peel the grapefruit or orange and put through the machine. (there are inedible pigments in the skin) (Lemons and limes can be cut and put in whole). The attachment lets you cut the orange in half, and "ream" it, thus producing juice faster. When juicing the whole fruit without the attachment, you are getting more nutrients from the fruit, since the white "pith" contains most of the nutrients.

Are the non-self extracting juice machines (omega 1000, 9000, Acme 6001) able to process citrus fruits without the attachment?
Yes, although it is a bit more difficult.. Citrus fruits, such as oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, have a bitter outer rind, and juice from a "whole" orange would be too bitter to drink. It also contains indigestible chemicals. One solution is to grate away (or peel) the outer rind (the orange coloring on the orange - it is best to leave the white "pith", as valuable nutrients are contained within the white area).

What is the difference between the Omega 1000/9000 and the ACME 5001/6001/7001??
They are basically the same juicer, with small design changes - specifically the way the top is held onto the machine. Also the motors are different. The Omega 1000 and Acme 7001 comes with a plastic top and stainless steel bowl. The Omega 9000 and Acme 6001 comes with a stainless steel top and bowl. The Acme 5001 comes with a plastic top and plastic bowl. We feel the Omega line are superior machines due to hand balancing.

The Olympic juicer has been recommended to us. But I haven't seen an Olympic listed anywhere. Do you have this brand?
The Olympic brand was taken over by the "Omega" brand. We sell the Omega 1000, which is just about the same as the old Olympic.
