Sprouts Are Us

Sprouts contain 10-100 times more enzymes than regular raw food. It makes good sense to grow and eat them and it is rewarding and wonderful. Instead of advocating living sprouts, health food stores and other places often sell expensive dried green stuff in a can and presume that turning living foods into something like this contains the same nutrients. No way! Ann Wigmore says there is little more benefit in "sprout flour" than regular flour. So as they say on the Sprout People site, "Eat more sprouts, grow more often." Sing to your sprouts and be thankful for this perfect food. I'm providing a link to a little story I wrote about sprouts which both adults and children can relate to. Meanwhile you can sprout almonds in a jar with a sprouting lid on top. Wrap a small towel around the jar and keep away from direct sunlight. The sprouts are rich tasting so you might want to start with 1/4 - 1/3 a cup. Change the water in about 12 hours and enjoy the next day. They swell up and if you bite them in half you can see the sprout tail growing inside. This is a delicious treat. Enjoy your sprouting:)
