Thou Shall Not Kill - I have often wondered why people believe that this simple statement does not relate to them causing massive suffering and killing of God's creatures. Does this commandement mean just killing people?
Animals are God’s creatures. He surrounds them with his providential care. By their mere existence they bless him and give him glory. Thus men owe them kindness. We should recall the gentleness with which saints like St. Francis loved animals.
